The entire Santa Barbara community has been rocked this past
week by the events that took place in IV Friday evening. It was a terrible
tragedy and our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to all the students,
staff, faculty of UCSB and the community as a whole.
Saturday afternoon was a tough day in our practice as we
have patients that are both staff and students at UCSB. As more information was
revealed, collectively everyone’s heart shattered a bit more.
Dr. Jacob and I attended the candlelight vigil Saturday
evening and then volunteered our services on campus all of Monday afternoon.
It was an amazing experience getting to know the staff, faculty,
and students yesterday. The staff was so compassionate, loving, and dedicated to
the students. They gave us a room to set-up our portable adjusting table in and
then walked students down after seeing the grief counselors.
We were not there to take away the pain but to remove
interference in the nervous system so that their body could better handle the extremely
stressful situation unfolding. Some people
had been adjusted before but about 20 people received their first ever
chiropractic adjustment. It was powerful adjusting their upper cervical and
feeling the body shift. There was so much gratitude and community that formed
in those few hours.
It was a tremendous reminder as to why I became a doctor in
the first place and that is to serve.
I am so grateful each day to be able to practice
chiropractic, serve my community, and to give back whenever possible. I honor
and thank everyone in the community for their tireless hours over the past
several days and want to let them know that Genuine Chiropractic is here to
support and serve.
In Loving Gratitude,
Dr. Elizabeth Wisniewski
