Perscription for Disaster

Perscription for Disaster

Last night I read an article on the Mercola page about prescription drugs. It is truly frightening how many people are taking dangerous substances and dying from them. This epidemic is brought to light every once in a while when a celebrity overdoses and dies or ends up in jail. It is time we start taking a much more serious look at this problem.
Straight out of the New England Journal of Medicine – prescription drugs, taken as prescribed, are the third leading cause of death in the United States. These are only counting the reported cases, many experts believe that if everything was counted for then it would be the number one cause of death in the United States. Isn’t that disturbing? You should be disturbed, upset, and wanting to make healthier lifestyle decisions.

In the Mercola article last night he was discussing a study in which over 500,000 pregnant women was look at, and a shocking 14% of them were prescribed pain killers during their pregnancy. The most common reason for painkillers – low back pain.

Now, I am not positioning myself as some low back pain doctor. Yes, I am a chiropractor so that is what you may think my focus is on. However, my focus is helping you live your own ideal lifestyle to 80, 90, 100 years and beyond. Certainly if you have back pain I will adjust you and this will get better. I will provide you with the information you need to live a healthy lifestyle, refer you to my amazing community partner list, and check and adjust your spine regularly.
A nervous system free of interference will allow you to live an optimal life and avoid being dependent on prescription drugs. You should be outraged by the statistics I provided earlier in this post, you should be telling everyone you know what is happening in this country. We are sicker than ever. We are fatter than ever. Babies born after the year 2000 will go down one of two paths… half will live to be over 100 years of age. The other half will die sicker and younger then their parents and grandparents.
Why is there such a difference between these two groups? It all comes down to lifestyle. You eat, how often you move, and how well your nervous system is functioning will determine your lifespan. You have the genetic potential to live a healthy 100 years, are you going to take control of your lifestyle or let sickness and disease control every aspect of your life?
