Thursday evening I had an amazing experience! My mentor over
the past four years Dr. Leslie Hewitt was in my practice speaking for the Santa
Barbara chapter of the California Chiropractic Association www.calchiro.org (CCA).
As of June 1 I will be taking over as our chapter president
and I was so thrilled to kind of kick-off my term with Dr. Hewitt as a guest
speaker. Besides being a rock star chiropractor in the East Bay (Anatomy Power
Chiropractic Wellness Studio), she is a yoga teacher, aerobics instructor,
chair of conventions / seminars for the CCA, and CEO/ Founder of The WOW Talks.
When I was still a chiropractic student in September 2012 I
spoke to hundreds of women at the WOW Talks Live (formally The WOW Factor). It
was a tremendous experience and now building on that experience I am launching
the Santa Barbara chapter of WOW Talks next month!
One of the greatest lessons I have learned from Dr. Hewitt
over the years is how to network from a collaborative, loving perspective. This
was truly put to the test when she e-mailed me Wednesday morning asking me to
gather raffle prizes so that she could demonstrate this sort of networking. I
panicked for a minute and then made some phone calls to community partners, and
everyone said yes! It was a true testament to the hard work I have put in over
the past year and a half of co-creating a supportive community in Santa Barbara
that is congruent with Genuine Chiropractic’s purpose and willing to collaborate.
